Environmental Vision 2021
Environmental Vision 2021 is Mitsubishi Electric's long-range vision for environmental
management, which looks towards the year 2021- the centennial of the company's
founding- by which to achieve specific and meaningful results. Based on the principle
of "Making Positive Contributions to the Earth and its People through Technology and
Action," the Vision defines a set of initiatives for realizing a sustainable, recycling-based
global society through application of the company's broad range of high-level
technologies and the actions of its global workforce of talented individuals.
Initiatives to Prevent Global Warming
- Undertake the technological innovation and promulgation of energy-saving products with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions
from product usage by 30% (compared to 2000 levels)
- On the presumption of sustainable growth, aim to reduce CO2 emissions from product manufacturing by 30% (520,000 tons)
throughout the Mitsubishi Electric Group
- Contribute to the prevention of global warming by providing products and systems to non-CO2-producing power-generating
operations, such as for solar and nuclear energy production, to reduce CO2 emissions from power generation
Initiatives to Achieve a Recycling-based Society
- Achieve a sustainable, resource recycling-based society by promoting the 3Rs: Reduce waste production, Reuse materials, and Recycle used materials
- Aim for zero waste emission during the production process
Ensuring Harmony with Nature and Fostering Environmental Awareness in Employees
- Nurture people who study the significance of harmony with nature and take initiative to act on the practices of nature conservation and observation
- Promote environmental conservation activities for restoration of lost woodlands
